Enrollment

What is the minimum age to enroll at Footnotes?

Children who are at least 18 months old by September 30th of the current year are welcome to enroll.

How do I register for classes?

Enrollment is handled through our Parent Portal. New families can create an account via the 'Register' link on our homepage or by clicking HERE. Once logged in, you can browse available classes and register online for our Mini Mũvers, FUNdamental, and Academy programs.

When does Fall registration begin?

Registration opens every May! To stay updated, we recommend creating an account in our portal so you receive an email as soon as enrollment begins.

Can we join a class after the season has started?

Yes! We accept new enrollments through January 31st if space is available. After this date, enrollment closes so our dancers can focus on learning choreography for our annual June recital at the Gallo Center for the Arts.

Are there any fees due at registration?

A non-refundable annual registration fee of $40 per student is required to secure your dancer's spot in their chosen classes.

Billing & Tuition

We focus on building character through dance, and that includes making our administrative processes simple and transparent. Managing your account is easy through our secure Parent Portal.

When is tuition processed?

Tuition is automatically debited on the 20th of each month for the upcoming month's classes.

What payment methods are accepted?

All families are required to maintain a credit card or ACH bank account on file for secure, automatic payments via the Parent Portal. We accept AMEX, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and ACH.

Does tuition cover the current or following month?

Payments made on the 20th secure your spot for the next month. For example, tuition paid on September 20th covers your dancer's place in October classes.

What is the policy for missed classes?

To maintain our studio standards, tuition remains the same regardless of attendance. We do not offer refunds or credits for missed classes.

Are late fees applied?

A $15 late fee will be applied to any account with an outstanding balance after the 25th of the month.

Do you offer sibling or multi-class discounts?

Yes! We offer a $2 discount on the lower tuition rate for each additional sibling from the same immediate family. These are applied automatically to your portal account.

Costumes + Payment details

Footnotes begins costume measurements in October, and families will receive email updates throughout the process. These emails include measurement reminders, important dates, and a costume pricing sheet outlining all costs and details for each class.

Costume fees vary by program

Fees include tax, shipping, accessories, tights/socks, and any music edits or custom mixes:

Average costume pricing base on age

  • Müvment & Fundamental: $110

  • Academy: $125

  • Specialty & Technique: $135

Payment Schedule

Costume fees are automatically charged to the card on file during the second week of December.
Families are welcome to pay early online or at the front desk anytime before the automatic charge is processed.

Size Confirmation

Once you receive your emailed notification, please log into your Parent Portal to:

  • Review your dancer’s costume details

  • Confirm or update costume size

  • Ask questions at the front desk if needed

Prompt size confirmation helps us order the correct costume on time. Please note that size exchanges will include an exchange fee.

Additional Notes

  • Costumes will not be ordered until paid.

  • Late fees will apply

  • Shoes are not included with costumes.

  • Costume fees are non-refundable, even if you withdraw from enrollment prior to their arrival.

Dress Code

Why a dress code?

Footnotes maintains a consistent dress code to help instructors assess alignment and technique. Proper attire builds student confidence and ensures safety and focus in every class.

Where can I find dancewear?

Required dancewear and shoes are available for purchase at our studio's front desk. Alternatively, you may visit The Dance Bag in Modesto. We recommend in-person fittings, as dance shoe sizing varies significantly by brand and rarely matches street shoe sizes.

What are the requirements?
  • Hair: Must be secured in a ponytail or bun.
  • Mini Movers: Pink leotard, tights, and leather ballet shoes.
  • Academy: Black leotard, pink tights, and canvas ballet slippers.
  • Jazz/Lyrical: Form-fitting wear and tan jazz shoes.

Communication

What’s the best way to contact the studio?

Texting is our preferred and fastest method! Reach us at 209-538-8544. You can also call us at that same number or email us at support@footnotesdancestudio.com. Please note that we do not monitor Instagram direct messages.

How do I use the Parent Portal?

The Parent Portal is your dancer’s hub for everything at Footnotes. Log in to register for classes, view weekly schedules, process tuition payments, and keep your family's contact details current.

Ready to log in? Visit the Parent Portal HERE.

Must I receive studio emails?

Yes. Email is our primary way to share critical updates, registration deadlines, and recital info. Opting out will affect your student's enrollment status, as we must have a functional way to communicate time-sensitive studio news.

How do emergency alerts work?

We use SMS alerts for urgent notifications like unexpected weather or power outages. Please ensure you’ve opted in to text messaging within your profile settings in the Parent Portal to stay informed during emergencies.
